Correspondence Analysis in Practice

September 11, 2008

The second edition of Michael Greenacre's book Correspondence Analysis in Practice has been published by Chapman & Hall /CRC Press. This book has been completely rewritten compared to the first edition published in 1993.

This edition is characterized by a long section on computational aspects and Michael demonstrates the use of two software packages - R and XLSTAT - for correspondence analysis and its variants, multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) and canonical correspondence analysis (CCA). New book: Excel Basics to Blackbelt

May 19, 2008

Excel Basics to Blackbelt by Dr. Elliot Bendoly, Associate Professor at the Goizueta Business School, Emory University, is recommended by Addinsoft, as it is designed to enhance the skills of Excel users, to enable them to reach to a level of mastery that will allow them to develop user interfaces and automated applications. To accomplish this, the major theme of the text is “the integration of the basic”; as a result readers will be able to develop decision support tools that are at once highly intuitive from a working-components perspective but also highly significant from the perspective of practical use and distribution. Applications integration discussed includes the use of MS MapPoint, XLSTAT and RISKOptimizer, as well as how to leverage Excel’s iteration mode, web queries, visual basic code, and interface development. There are ample examples throughout the text.

If you place you order before June 30 2008, you will can benefit from a 20% discount. Order form can be download by clicking here : Excel Basics to Blackbelt.

XLSTAT 2008.4: Innovation again

April 28, 2008

Addinsoft continues its efforts to constantly innovate by offering news tools oriented towards applications.

After releasing the EasyPoints tool in March, useful to any Excel user, we bring a new and unique feature in XLSTAT-ADA: PLS-CCA. PLS-CCA is a new way to do canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) with an automatic variable selection based on PLS regression. Although CCA is mostly used by ecologists, we do think CCA should also be used in geo-marketing or in sensory analysis as it allows to relate measured dimensions to a contingency table.

Survival analysts will be pleased to see the Cox regression added to the XLSTAT-Life module. XLSTAT-Life users with an active maintenance plan have a free access to that upgrade.

XLSTAT 2007.6

July 20, 2007

Version 2007.6 of XLSTAT is available and brings the following new features:
- Canonical correlation analysis has been added to the ADA module.
- The GPA function, available in both the MX and ADA is now more flexible as you can now easily select configurations that do not have the same number of dimensions. This is very useful in sensory data analysis.
- The GPA algorithm has been upgraded. It is significantly quicker and offers a new alternative approach for missing data : if a missing data is met for a given triplet object/configuration/dimension, the data are considered as missing for the couple object/configuration. Then, it is not necessary to consider the couple configuration/dimension or the whole object as being missing. This option has advantages that should be discribed soon in an article.
- The PLSPM module has been improved.

User Conference 2007

June 14, 2007

The XLSTAT User Conference took place in Paris (France) at the “Maison de la Recherche” during the 7th and 8th June 2007. With a much larger number of attendees than initially planed, this conference was big success with an essentially European audience.

maison_de_la_recherche.gif

The presentations of internationally known experts like Michael Greenacre or Michel Tenenhaus allowed the users to enrich their knowledge of essential methods like Correspondence Analysis or PLS regression. Vincenzo Esposito Vinzi presented the PLS path modeling, that is now available in the module PLSPM of XLSTAT.

Finally the conference allowed the users to imagine new perspectives for using XLSTAT, especially with the version 2007 of Excel and with the possibility of using VBA to programmatically control XLSTAT.

XLSTAT 2007.5

May 23, 2007

Addinsoft is proud to announce the release of XLSTAT version 2007.5. This version brings several new tools, new features, and a new module XLSTAT-PLSPM which is the first user friendly application for PLS path modeling, an alternative to Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).
